For drivers of the Battlefords, having a reliable and practical vehicle with a smooth drive and top-notch tech and safety features is a must. Add in an affordable price tag and flexible warranty options, and you’ve got an offer no driver could refuse. Thankfully, the all-new 2022 Kona checks all of these boxes. The subcompact SUV has been making great strides since its debut five years ago. And with a complete refresher for this year, including the all-new sporty N Line trim, we couldn’t be more excited for the Kona’s arrival!
The most obvious update for the 2022 Hyundai Kona is the exterior’s major design refresh, which is the first since it was introduced in 2017. The stretched hood, wider grille, and striking front details like protective cladding and skid plate elements give this crossover an even sleeker look. The bumper fascia seamlessly joins to the wheel arch cladding for a bold, dynamic look, almost armour-like, that contrasts with the body. The new N-Line trim has some sporty cosmetic changes for those who dream of being on the track – or at least looking the part!
The 2022 Kona’s interior underwent a more subtle redesign with a new center console that sits separately from the instrument panel for a wider, more spacious look. Other new interior amenities include available ambient lighting for the front cup holders and footwells, an optional electronic parking brake, and USB-port access for second-row passengers.
Safety is the number one priority for Battlefords drivers when looking to upgrade their vehicles. Fortunately, Kona focuses even more on driver and passenger safety with significant updates to its active safety features. The available Smart Cruise Control (SCC) now includes the stop-and-go function while Safe Exit Warning (SEW) can warn passengers from exiting the vehicle if it is not yet safe to do so. Highway Drive-Assist, not only helps keep your Kona in its lane and within a certain following distance to a leading vehicle, but also adjusts speed to posted speed limits on interstate highways. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection now comes standard on all models and uses a radar sensor and camera to detect potential collisions, applying the brakes if necessary.
One of the most exciting tech upgrades for Kona is the expansive display screens. On the Limited trim, get a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch colour touchscreen navigation display that includes a split-screen function. The SE and SEL trims get larger screens, too, with a new 8-inch display audio (up from 7 inches) and a 4.2-inch colour multi-information display that’s upgraded from the 3.5-inch monochromatic display. In addition, you can remotely control the heated seat settings, get vehicle status alerts if you leave doors unlocked or windows open, and more!
